Leap Motion Controller

Topping teach headlines on Tuesday, Leap Motion and Hewlett-Packard are teaming up to provide 3D motion control technology to select HP devices.

The companies provided neither a launch timeline nor a product list, but HP will initially bundle Leap Motion with certain HP products before integrating Leap technology directly into its gadgets. Leap Motion's 3-by-1-inch controller debuted in May, with a 150-degree field of view and the ability to track individual hands and all 10 fingers at up to 290 frames per second.

In other news, Logitech boosted its Harmony universal remote lineup with the Harmony Ultimate and Harmony Smart Control. The Ultimate, Logitech's "most fully featured product," includes a 2.4-inch color touch screen and can control up to 15 devices. The Smart Control includes similar features, though lacks a touch screen and works with up to eight devices. Both controllers connect to an iOS or Android smartphone to share universal remote capabilities, and come with Logitech's new Harmony Hub, which allows the control of game consoles and smartphones.

Meanwhile, Facebook updated its iOS apps to bring some of the functionality of its new Facebook Home features to Apple devices. But don't expect your home screen to be taken over by the Facebook news feed. The iPhone and iPad updates include Chat Heads, aimed to ease multitasking while chatting, as well as "Stickers "? emojis for messages. Also on the iPad, Facebook is finally rolling out some of the news feed changes announced in March, including "brighter, more beautiful stories."
